Kethevane Cellard’s drawings are produced through a patient hatching technique – millions of overlapping lines and curves in black ink, thinner than a human hair. A meditative process that is in itself an invitation to meditate, Space for Contradictions reveals a collection of objects or figures, arranged in a star pattern, on an oval-shaped paper support. This polymorphous figure’s members stretch outwards in an array around a common core, each one seeming to grow according to its own internal logic. As is often the case, the title provides a key for interpreting the artist’s work, and invites introspection in the observer.

Composés de millions de traits d’encre noire moins épais qu’un cheveu, les dessins de Kethevane Cellard sont le fruit d’une superposition patiente de hachures et de courbes. Processus méditatif invitant lui-même à la méditation, Le Parcours des Contradictions donne à voir un ensemble d’objets ou de figures composés en étoile dans la surface ovale du support. Rassemblés autour d’un noyau commun, les branches de cette figure polymorphe s’étirent vers l’extérieur, chacune semblant croître selon sa propre logique interne. Le titre de l’œuvre donne une piste de lecture, comme c’est souvent le cas chez l’artiste, et invite à un regard introspectif.
